基町写真展2023

基町プロジェクトでは、2015年より基町地区内外の方々から懐かしい写真をご提供いただき、毎年8月に「基町、昔の写真展」を開催してきました。2020年からは、同年10月にオープンした基町資料室の企画展「基町写真展」として新たなスタートを切りました。

本写真展は、時代の流れとともに大きく変化してきた基町地区の過去を振り返り、未来の展望を考えるきっかけとなるよう企画するものです。これまでに5,000枚以上の写真資料を提供いただいていますが、その中から公開可能な写真を選び展示いたします。

第4回目となる本展のテーマは「コンティニュー」です。基町地区には「三大行事」の呼び名で親しまれる「基町地区原爆死没者慰霊盆踊り大会」「基町地区敬老会」「基町町民体育祭」があります。

コロナ禍によって開催できなかった「三大行事」が再開することに期して、これまで実施されてきた様々な地域行事の賑わいを伝えます。また1970年代後半に撮影された大判の写真により、基町アパート建設にともなう街並みの変化をつぶさにご覧いただきます。 この写真展が基町の「今と昔」「変わった部分と変わらない部分」を見つめる機会となり、子どもから若者、高齢者まで多くの方々が基町の歴史や未来を語り学びあう、交流の場となることを願っています。

Since 2015, the Motomachi Project has held the Old Photosof Motomachi exhibition every August, featuring nostalgic photos loaned bypeople from inside and outside the Motomachi area. In 2020, we launched TheMotomachi Photo Exhibition, a new initiative in the Motomachi Archive Room,which opened in October of that year.
This photo exhibition is designed to provide an opportunity tolook back at the past of the Motomachi area, which has changed dramatically
over time, and to consider its future prospects. We have received more than
5,000 photographs so far, and have selected those that can be made public for
this exhibition.
The theme of this fourth exhibition is Continue. Three majorevents are held in the Motomachi area: the "Motomachi District Atomic Bomb
Memorial Bon Dance Festival," the "Motomachi District Respect for the
Elderly Gathering," and the "Motomachi Town Citizens' Sports
Festival."
In anticipation of the resumption of these "Three Great Events,"which could not be held during the Corona disaster, we hope the exhibition will
convey the vibrancy of the many past gatherings. In addition, large-format
photos taken in the late 1970s will provide a close look at the changes in the
cityscape that occurred with the construction of the Motomachi Apartments. We
hope that this photo exhibition will be an opportunity for people of all ages—from
children to the elderly—to look at the "past and present" and the
"changes and constants" of Motomachi, and to learn and share ideas
about its history and future.
